At the same time as the VIENNA ART WEEK takes place, the quartier21 arranges the Digital Monday presenting a diversified program. EIKON participates in this event with the Magazine Launch of EIKON #72, the opening of Birgit Graschopf’s exhibition at EIKON SchAUfenster and the book presentation “previewed – Fotografie aus Wien”.

With the newest issue of EIKON we introduce Birgit Graschopf, Eirik Johnson, Anton Kehrer, Wang Qingsong and Isabel Rocamora on the Artist Pages. Furthermore EIKON #72 comprises interviews with actress and film-maker Andrea Eckert, Eyes-On-organizer Thomas Licek and the famous Austrian artist VALIE EXPORT. In the last issue this year we also provide exhibition talks varying from Muybridge to Kubelka and book reviews ranging from Abramovic to Warburg.

In the course of the EIKON #72 Magazine Launch, we celebrate the opening of Birgit Graschopf’s exhibition at EIKON SchAUfenster. The night before the opening, the Austrian photo artist will slather the wall with a photographic emulsion and expose the wall afterwards. The result will be an outstanding photograph on the wall. In so doing, Birgit Graschopf expanses the conventional boundaries of the exhibition space.

The artist will be present at the event.

For the first time the photographic diploma projects, realized by students graduated  from the Viennese Schools of fine art photography, including the Akademie der bildenden Künste, Universität für angewandte Kunst,  fotoK-Lehrgang, Schule für künstlerische Photographie, will be presented together in the book “previewed – Fotografie aus Wien”. Markus Zahradnik brought together the best photographs from the year 2010 and realized a 4-volume book, published by EIKON.
