REMINDER: EIKON Photography Competition 2011: Prohibitions in the Space of Art EIKON announces a Europe-wide competition for photography on the subject of prohibitions in the space of art, which will be awarding 5.000 Euro in prize money. This competition is directed to all those who think the discussion of conventions is important when it comes to dealing with art or our behaviour within spaces dedicated to art. DIDO Day EIKON is pleased to invite you to Digitalen Donnerstag at Electric Avenue/quartier21 A varied programme on the subject of digital art and culture awaits you. In the centre of attention will be the pulling of the “body”. Perspectives on film archives, digitalization and the public in the 21st century will be reflected. Thomas Ballhausen (Filmarchiv Austria, University of Vienna) will inform you about current trends in archiving.
By doing “speed presentations” on digital life artists, curators and scientists will give insights into their labs, exhibition previews and project appetizers. Among others EIKON editor-in-chef Elisabeth M. Gottfried will talk with the artist Norbert Math (alien productions) about what’s new in the EIKON-world and Alien City. When: March 24, 2011 at 6 p.m. Where: Electric Avenue, room D/quartier21/MQ, Museumsplatz 1, 1070 Vienna eSel will accompany the program with insights on current art and cultural events in Vienna. The evening will be finished off with a film screening of Vienna Independent Shorts on the subject of “Nassräume” in room D/quartier21 starting at 8 p.m.
