6th Carmignac Gestion Photojournalism Award

Einsendeschluss: 28.09.2014

Theme of the sixth edition : Lawless areas in France

This year, once again, the Carmignac Foundation wishes to support and promote an investigative photography project in territories away from the media spotlight by focusing on France and specifically on areas becoming so-called “lawless areas” – political, legal or socioeconomic no man’s land subject to deregulation – where the authority of the French Republic is challenged.

The judging panel for the sixth edition, chaired by Christophe Deloire, General Secretary of Reporters Without Borders International, and composed of photographers, journalists and key figures from the international photography scene, will meet on 30 October 2014 in Paris.

 The application must include:
• Full project presentation
• Between 8 and 15 photographs, with captions, drawn from a single series or from one photo-reportage topic which may or may not relate to the territory in question
• A portfolio of 10 photos, with captions, representing the photographer’s work
• A full CV (age, contact details, details of training, photo-reportages undertaken, publications and exhibitions)

SELECTION PROCESS

There are two stages in the judging process:
• Stage 1, Preselection Committee: a panel of photo specialists compile a shortlist of 20 from entries received and recommend the artistic direction for the year.
• Stage 2, Judging Panel: comprising leading lights in the world of modern photography and geopolitics, this panel is responsible for selecting the winner.
