OFF_festival Bratislava

The call for the upcoming 7th year of the OFF_festival Bratislava is now open. The theme for the year 2016 is Tomorrow’s Archive. We want to draw our audience´s attention to the concept of an archive of the future. In the words of Eszter Biró, photographer and researcher, the technology-based medium of photography is often compared with memory, connected to personal identity. They both create traces and testimonies of the past and their sharing is essential, while archives are often understood as institutionalised, presenting the perspective of collective identity. What should be remembered or forgotten collectively? And what if we lose control over our archives, what if they overwhelm us?
Individual photographers, photographic groups and associations, clubs and schools, curators and tutors, submit your projects latest by 31 May 2016.
